Sofuu (a Touhou LW original) refers to an autumn breeze. This is an apt temperament for Aya Shameimaru, the cosplay photographer from the world of eternal autumn. Aya's temperament has wildly deviated from the laws governing the Three Essences and Five Phases. Photos capture images of the soul. (Strong against Water Phase.) Even the wind blowing is no biggie for Aya. (Strong against Wood Phase.) But too much sunlight can ruin a good photo. (Weak to Sun Essence.)

However, like all residents of the autumn world, her passion for her hobbies is more intense. As a result, it seems she's obsessed with taking photos that capture her subjects in all their glory. In the world of eternal autumn, festivals celebrating art and people's hobbies are constantly being held across Gensokyo. Everyone knows the place to be during autumn is the Youkai Mountain. And everyone knows the Youkai Mountain is home to the tengu, which, of course, includes Aya Shameimaru. In this world, Aya has made quite a name for herself as a youkai who publishes her own books―something that, according to her, is far from easy! She always makes time for her hobbies while continuing her work as a reporter and newspaper publisher. Organization skills and a strict adherence to deadlines are her secrets to success. The books Aya publishes are actually photo albums. She gets a real kick out of selling her latest, hand-made albums at markets such as the one at the New Lunar Capital Expo. The photos inside the album she sold at that expo were mostly of the cosplayers in attendance. She took photos, edited them, then compiled them into an album. Each step of the process filled her with joy. She always makes sure to get permission before taking anyone's photo. That's photography 101. However, occasionally, she does receive a complaint or two. From a certain tengu: "Hey, Aya. Why am I in this photo? Delete it, please." "But why?" "I dunno... I don't like the way I look in it." Aya didn't quite understand. She thought the tengu looked great in the photo. From another tengu: "Miss Aya... Don't you think there are too many photos of me in here?" "Not really. Look, there are lots of other people's photos, too." "Yeah, but I still think there are too many of me..." Without a few tengu photos, the entire album would be photos of fairies. It needed a little more variety. "Hrmm, this is tricky. Hopefully making my next photo album goes a little smoother," mumbled Aya. "In that case!" erupted the two tengu, startling Aya. "Why don't you just take photos of yourself?!"
